About Us

The home of the Royal Engineers

Royal Engineer soldiers are called Sappers. They are unique, motivated and intelligent. They are multi-skilled soldiers, combat engineers and tradesmen. They provide essential support to all areas of UK Defence, in peacetime and on operations.

The Sapper magazine is created within Headquarters Royal Engineers, based in Chatham.

The Sapper Office

The Sapper is a hard copy and online magazine funded by the Royal Engineers Central Charitable Trust. A majority of our magazine articles are written and submitted by our deployed Sapper soldiers.

The online magazine complements the hard copy magazine and sits within a full suite of communication platforms maintained by the team in Royal Engineers headquarters. We have a wide variety of social media channels which also convey the amazing and exciting work our Sappers do across the globe.

We always aim to be truthful and factual when publishing our content. Therefore, please keep in touch, so we can constantly improve.
